Aside from this being a charming little story that I’m happy to share, it also indicates that while I have access to WiFi to post this, we don’t have access to our hotel room till 3pm (other hotels are more generous) - VQT covered 9 miles (short day!) in about 5 hours, given the terrain (steep hills!) and weather (heat!) this is an excellent pace and she is very keen (and deserves) to lie down - we are passing time is a local cafe 🦜💚

    By now hopefully you have your hotel room. That’s good! Very cool that the Parrot has his own Wikipedia page. He seems to be quite famous!

Day 1. August 25

  Photo: Church bell tower under viaduct.  Today is called “easy” in our guidebook. It is flat but it is 15 miles.  We head to Esposende along boardwalks passing beaches, sand dunes and old windmills.  Esposende was a village in 1572.  It’s been welcoming pilgrims since 1579.   We’ll take it slow and steady today.  Not that we are ever very fast.  Saw many Camino people yesterday so hoping to meet and talk to some as we put one foot in front of the other…
