What a day!

 Posted by VQT

We left at 7:45 am and arrived at 4:00 pm.  That’s 8 hours and 15 minutes.   The first part of the day was uphill to the Iron Cross then it was 9 miles of steep downhill.

Morning sunrise.

VQT & LP with Clare from the UK.  Clare passed her Solicitors exam and decided to walk the Camino before getting a job.  We’ve met her several times on this journey and she’s delightful.

LP and VQT at the Iron Cross.

VQT carried these stones (many from friends) to leave at the Iron Cross.  The stones represent your burdens and once left at the Iron Cross your burdens are left behind.

There’s a large mound of stones and it would be even larger if the authorities didn’t occasionally clear out the area.  The Iron Cross at the top of the pole is a replica of the 12th Century Iron Cross we saw at the Gaudi Palace.

Once we left the Iron Cross the remaining walk today was downhill.  We checked into our hotel and went to a cafe/bar.  Clare and Tina (from Germany) joined us.  We had a decent 4 cheese pizza.

Tomorrow a 10 to 11 mile walk.  Now we rest and sleep.

  3. Hope you are feeling unburdened. Four cheese pizza is a good end to a good day!
