Thursday. Day 18.

After Tuesday’s 18 mile walk I started coughing. Thought it might just be from all the dust- but no. Went to bed and got up Wednesday morning. We had a 10 mile day so I thought I could power through. We stopped at mile 5 at a bar/cafe and asked them to call a taxi. We are in the middle of nowhere and no taxis were available so had to walk. Arrived at Sahagún and the hotel staff were very nice- they let us check in early at 12:15. I immediately went to bed and LP (she’s the best) went off in search of a pharmacy. Started taking drugs and didn’t leave the room until Thursday morning at 7:30 am. Today was always a questionable day with a 20 mile walk- we’d thought we would walk and call a taxi part way if needed. After realizing it’s not very easy to get a taxi we have decided to take today off from walking. Taxi is coming at 9:30 to take us to Reliegos.
I’m better already and hopeful that another day of rest I’ll be ready to walk the 10 miles scheduled for Friday.
We’ve been so fortunate on all our Caminos. Yes, we’ve had blisters and sore muscles but we’ve completed all our walks. We’ve talked to many people who say, “I never thought it would be this hard”.
Tonight’s hotel offers a vegan dinner. Perfect.

I am so glad you are feeling better and you both were able to get a taxi… Please take care of yourselves.🙏💚🙏 ROBBIE

ReplyDeleteGood decision to rest and recuperate. Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can continue your Camino adventure. Hugs to LP for her care and attentiveness.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling better. Wise to take a day off to rest, especially a 20 miler! Hopefully a great dinner and good night sleep will put you right. JK
