TGIF

We headed out this morning at 8 after a very sad breakfast at our hotel.  It was included so we thought “why not?”  After yesterday’s amazing breakfast it was more “why bother?”  White sandwich bread you could toast and eat with butter and jam.  There was cereal but no milk.  Packaged muffins.  Oranges.  Hot tea and coffee were available.  There was not a cafe/bar for hours so even though the breakfast was sad it was all we had.

Then walking through a small town around noon we were going to rest in a small courtyard and there was the most amazing bakery.

Stork nest on top of church steeple.

Another stork nest on a tall pole.  We’ve seen many of these poles with stork nests.

Crème filled pasteries.

The bakery we happened upon.  Amazing.

Sloe berries.  They look like blueberries.

Staying at a nice place tonight.  It’s a hotel and an Albergue with a nice bar area and a good restaurant.  We checked in and immediately went to the restaurant and had salads with sides of potatoes.  And our laundry is being done by the hotel for 8 euros (we only have 4 pairs of socks so need to do laundry often).

  1. Sounds like a good day even after a rocky start. PN

  2. Those stork nests are ginormous! And, those pastries… I’m drooling. The sloes are actually wild plums. Maybe you should try them in the form of Pacharán. Happy Friday!
