An amazing day.

 Posted by VQT

The morning walk was through vineyards and was beautiful.  The afternoon walk was behind a concrete barrier next to a highway.  Our lunchtime entertainment was a castle tour by the Marquis- it’s his home - and only 4 of us were on the tour.  We never do sightseeing but the castle tour was too good to pass up.  Ended up being a 16 mile day.  Staying at a hotel with a vegetarian restaurant- our room is on the top floor accessed by a spiral rooftop stairway - Camino hotels can be very unusual in good and bad ways - this is a good way.

House on hilltop in vineyards.

Exterior of the castle in Villafranca.

Exterior turret of the castle.  There is a turret on each corner of the building.

Door with notice of tour at 12:30.

Interior courtyard of the castle.   That’s the Marquis.

Wine cellar.  These huge wine caskets contained wine until 1960.

Chapel area.  Domed ceiling.

The Marquis.

Underground area.

Display of the wine and honey produced on the premises.

LP, VQT and the Marquis.

Had an excellent dinner.  Now in our rooftop room.  Tomorrow a long and strenuous day.  Maybe tomorrow there will be ice cream?

  1. Bobby would be jealous of that wine cellar with the barrels so big they had ladders!
