Where to even begin…

We thought we were going to have an easy day. Even with new Buen Camino trail app we managed to go the wrong way multiple times The first time we were both looking at garden art on the right side of the road and did not see the marker on the left hand side pointing left.
Painted rocks on side of the trail.Back on course we decided we had time to take the scenic coastal route. But first we had to wander off course several times before a farmer on his tractor waved us in the right direction.
Once on the coast it was jaw dropping incredible. Photos do not capture the beauty.
I could post dozens of photos. It was a perfect day.
And then…
We had first breakfast at 9:15 or so. Started walking at 10:15. We had a granola bar at a park area when we first reached the coastal area. We walked and walked and walked. Made it into town and bars etc were closing and not reopening till 8 or 9. We got a bar to sell us two beers and sat down around 5. Before heading out to our accommodations we bought cheese, crackers, and Oreos from a store. Our accommodations were miles out of town at a small rural hotel. A light rain started as we left the town and headed to the accommodation (a small rural hotel)for the night. We checked in at 6:40. No restaurant but had a bar. Had wine, cheese & crackers and an Oreo cookie for dinner.
We’ve had some good meals this trip but overall it’s been a dietary & calorie disaster.
We have separate rooms tonight. My room is over the reception bar area so I’m hopeful the almost 15 miles we walked is enough to help me sleep through the noise.
It was a long day. Late in the day it becomes a mind game and it’s 100% determination to put one foot forward after another. It was a hard day. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
What gorgeous views to carry you through wrong turns!! How are your feet holding up?
ReplyDeleteSpectacular place, which hopefully makes up for going off the trail and having snacks for dinner.
