A 10 Mile Day (short but strenuous)

 Posted by LP

VQT climbing steep hill - there were lots of steep hills this morning
A green door - painted with a cactus design and hand prints
A sign to warn drivers of walkers (pilgrims) on the road - unfortunately quite a lot of our route was walking alongside roads, rather than paths
A charming play on words = Hotel Canino (presumably a kennel) - a green sign with a short legged dog, how could I resist?
We passed this house surrounded by plants (geraniums and sedum) in containers, very attractive
A (great shade of) green barn door
Display of plants outside a very nice looking hotel (clearly several cuts above the place we stayed) - we went in to ask if they served tea etc to us….they said no
The first shrine we have seen on this Camino  (all kinds of trinkets have been left)
LP, VQT and L (from Lithuania, lived in Ireland for 20 years) - L is a very experienced Camino hiker but is having just as much difficulty with lack of signage as we are)
Nasturtiums tumbling over a dry stone wall
This Spanish farm dog that could be related to Esme
The sign to La Gloria cafe we were so pleased to see - we had walked from 7.30 to 10am before we reached this cafe for breakfast = hallelujah 💚

  1. Beautiful pics!! The elevation gain looks a bit more intense than our Sweet Pea hill. And-I hate hearing about the difficulty of following the path. It takes away from the flow (and the ability to get lost in your thoughts) with the added stress about staying on the path. 🧡

  2. This was an incredibly long steep climb. I did make it to the top. VQT

  3. Enough like Esme to think she was a Spanish farm dog in an earlier life. PN

  4. We know it’s a tough incline when the hands go in the hips. Loving all the plants!
