Day 16. May 15. A rest day.
VQT and LP with our Camino friends in from of the Cathedral. We met last night for dinner. Several leave for home today (V & B from Lithuania, R from Ireland) we will miss seeing them as we stay on for a rest day and tomorrow continue our walk to Finisterre. At dinner we went around the table and each person named their top 3 things they liked about the Camino. Meeting people and talking to people was mentioned over and over. The randomness of each of us meeting and forming our little group. Being outside in nature seeing the flowers, vegetable gardens, woods, ocean, rivers, etc. The slow nature of walking that allowed us to see and hear the world instead of blasting by it in a car. That there’s an equalization on the Camino - everyone has the same goal and who they are back home and what they do/did for a living doesn’t matter - everyone on the Camino is walking.
Pigeons taking advantage of a wall mosaic fountain.
Today we go to a laundromat. Maybe get our completion Compostela (We have registered on line. Basically a data collection of nationality, age, where you started your Camino, occupation - not many occupational choices so we both selected artist over house wife. The site issues a QR code so when we go to the pilgrims office we scan our code and get a number.). We will visit the Cathedral (maybe mass?). And hopefully meet our remaining Camino friends again.
What a great journey so far! I laughed at the occupational choices!
ReplyDeleteI believe that's spelled artiste. At least it's the snootier version and you deserve the grand title!
