Distractions and Entertainment
Posted by LP
We call the interesting people and things we see along the way “Distractions and Entertainment” - here are some from today:
VQT inside a beautiful church in Baione - we try to visit all the churches we pass (lots)LP at a little “art for donation” stand - we took a couple of miniature watercolors and left our Euros in the honesty box
Statue of Christopher Columbus in Baione - apparently the Pinta (a question on my US citizenship test) returned to this port after “discovering” the USA
One of the many mile markers (actually kilometers) - this one has been adorned with rocks, flowers, pine cones, etc., presumably by many pilgrims/walkers as we each walk past
Another mileage marker - this one surrounded by many painted and personalized rocks
…..and here is one of the painted rocks = the Portuguese Rooster and the Portuguese Camino route
VQT outside a cafe with a huge yellow arrow (the typical way we follow the Camino) - this cafe was particularly appreciated because we had just negotiated a steep up and down)
A photo of a woman standing next to van of luggage - the exciting thing is that as we walked past we realized that it contains OUR bag (we have been transporting a bag, paying 7 Euros to move it from hotel to hotel)
A windmill against the backdrop of the Atlantic
Wonderful red blooms against the blue sky
VQT and a man from France whose name I forget - he is hiking solo and asked us to take his photo…..so we took his photo
LP trying to take an “artistic” photo of the lighthouse between the branches of a tree (please make allowance for the fact that I was climbing uphill with a backpack and in the heat!) - thank you for indulging me and my artistic aspirations!
Great distractions and entertainment, especially the unnamed guy eating a sandwich! Ha! Is that what he was holding?! And your artistic photo is very nice!
