Camino Experinces

 Posted by LP

Yesterday was our 4th day of walking - perhaps because of a planning error or mathematical mistake it turned out to be another long one and very tiring - on the plus side however, we did appreciate that the day gave us more Camino experiences - the path turned away from the coast and we walked through agricultural villages, through woods, past rivers, past many churches and shrines, by flora and fauna of many kinds and alongside other pilgrims - we enjoy these distractions and “entertainment” as we call them - they are fun and serve to make us forget our foot pain, at least momentarily - we also had more opportunities for food and drink, always a plus in our minds - here are a few photos to illustrate our day:

LP (in the distance) walking through the woods - the softer woodland path is kinder to our feet

LP about to cross river on large stones
VQT petting a couple of friendly dogs
VQT talking with a man in one of the churches we visited - he stamped our Pilgrim Credentials, gave us a blessing and instructed on using a coin to light an electric candle
VQT enjoying a slice of watermelon - we came upon a particular kind of Camino Refreshment Stand, all kinds of food and drink available for a donation
A wooden signpost with all kinds of Camino locations included - it says Santiago is still more than 200 kilometers away - the coastline is in the background
A roadside stone sign - Portugal is outlined in blue and the Portugues Coastal Camino in yellow
A roadside stone sign with all the major stops on the Portugues Coastal Camino (painted in blue) from that point till Santiago

Bom Camino!

  3. Can you take Mindy with you next time? She says it's boring here. The scenery looks lovely.
