View from bedroom window.  Government building. 
Nice Way - accommodation for 2 nights. 
LP and 2 new friends.  A from Brazil and J from Germany.  

Arrived at Nice Way around 8:30 pm.  It’s located in an old building on the edge of the Old Town.  First impression opening the street door we felt a little apprehensive.  But, up 3 flights of stairs we found a glass door opening into a bar reception area that welcomed these 2 weary travelers into a wonderful place of hospitality.  Our private room and bath (another 2 flights of stairs up - of course “up”) are very acceptable.  

Today we go on a walking tour of the Old Town.  Contact a good friend of our friends D & J of ATL, arrange tomorrow’s baggage transport for our duffle, drink some wine and enjoy Porto.

 Map showing the Camino routes.   We will be walking part of Norte starting just to the left of Santander (route at top shown in red).  Just under the word Norte we will take the Primitivo route (shown as a light purple color) into Santiago de Compostela.  Our calculations show we will walk approximately 300 miles.   Today (Friday) we fly to Madrid arriving Saturday morning.  From Madrid we take a train for approximately 4 hours to Santander.  From there we’ll get a taxi to Santillana Del Mar where we will stay overnight.  On Sunday we start our walk    “We should all be grateful for the beauty of this world, but more, we should take the trouble to get off the bus of life and put the soles of our feet to the soul of the world and see those sacred sites with our own eyes”. Irish Poet.     Travel safely, travel soulfully, travel gratefully… Buen Camino.

Wanderlust

 Posted by LP VQT sitting at cafe in Madrid airport under a sign that says “Wanderlust (n) a strong desire or urge to travel and explore the world” As we walk out of the city, we see the bright blue sky above the bell tower of the cathedral at Santiago de Compostela  Liz (met last year on Portugues Camino), LP, VQT and Michelle (met this year on the Primitivo Camino) outside the restaurant we ate lunch together yesterday/Thursday  LP, VQT, Michelle and Liz enjoying dinner at The Green Room (a veggie restaurant!) on Wednesday evening  We’ve walked, we’ve celebrated…..we are ready to be home :) HUGE and HEARTFELT thanks to everyone who supported us to have this wonderful adventure - I recognize it is a privilege to spend a month walking and exploring (also finding our way, negotiating various challenges, looking for the next place to rest, eat, sleep and do laundry, etc.!) - special appreciation to GJA (previously identified as the most supportive spouse in the world), family and friends
