Photos as we leave Leon

Posted by LP - here are some photos taken along the way from Leon to Villadangos del Paramo, a leisurely hike of about 12 miles, took 6-ish hours with several rest stops:

Leaving Leon - the cathedral is visible from the outskirts
Statute of resting Pilgrim, sitting with sandals off and eyes closed
Board of simple phrases in about 30 languages (entertainment and education) at the rest stop
A pair of hiking boots has been retired (and decorated with flowers) at the 301.8 kilometers (to Santiago) marker
Rest stop set up by volunteers - food and drinks available for donations - we met our Danish friends again
This is Joe and Mick from Greenwich, London SE 10 - we have met them several times along the way
Pilgrim metal cut out, with other decorations, in someone’s garden (and they had a bench for hikers to rest)

A very friendly cat visiting the young hiker (who had just passed us by!)

At 7.30am this morning, here we both are at the Leon sign - El Camino took as by the cathedral as we left town (of course El Camino is an ancient pilgrimage, so the route goes by every church, etc) - another hiker came by and asked if he could take the photo, it turns out he is a professional photographer :)

Note to reader - creating the blog on our phones has its limitations, we cannot control the order the photos are uploaded
