Monty Python and El Camino
Posted by LP - it was a damp and muddy walk today, we passed acres of grape vines - I had my head down and my mind wandered to lots of things, including Monty Python……maybe it is the hundreds of crucifixes we see on buildings, by the road side and obviously in churches, etc., and I found myself singing, “Look on the bright side of life,” from Life of Brian……then there are all the references and artifacts from the Knights Templar, so I think about K-nights who say “Ni!”from, ”Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” plus all the mud makes me think of King Arthur addressing the peasants (or “worker’s collective”)…..then of course, “No one expects the Spanish Inquisition” and their nice red uniforms! - photo one is a crucifix on the side of the road near the village of Ventosa (which has a nice cafe with food for “second breakfast” and a clean loo!) - photo two is a clam shell sign at the gates of one of the many vineyards we passed today (it says Santiago 593 km, but who knows if it is true, see “Are we there yet?” blog) - photo three is VQT on the damp road where Buen Camino is written in big yellow letters - note the grey skies in all three photos
Ha! I hope you skipped along while singing "Always look on the bright si-i-de of life, do do-do do do do doodly do (whistling in place of the do dos)!"
