Our "so-called" preparation

Photo taken January 20th, 2020 - VQT and LP either side of Cindy, an REI staff person with lots of El Camino experience, at the REI shop in Atlanta

Posted by LP - here is our so-called preparation for El Camino:
  • Endless conversations with one another
  • Reading a wide variety of books and blogs
  • Listening to people with El Camino experience
  • Setting and resetting 2 dates 2020 and 2 dates in 2021
  • Countless visits to REI Co-op (Recreational Equipment Inc.)
  • Being thankful for REI’s very generous exchange and return policy
  • Attending an REI class by a veteran El Camino hiker
  • Weighing and re-weighing our backpacks and their planned contents
  • (Almost) daily vigorous walks
  • Hiking with friends
  • Walking the Atlanta ½ marathon for the past 4 years
  • Appreciating the encouragement of friends and family
We have also spent time and energy on this blog, thinking about how we want to share our experiences and ultimately decided we want to (1) keep it simple, and (2) have it be as accessible as possible (adding descriptions to photos and graphics, etc.) - while neither of us is very technical, we learned the basics (and we do mean basics!) - please remember we will be posting from our phones (so make allowances for errors) - we hope you enjoy your visits to the blog, feel free to comment - thank you for your interest and support :)
